Mission objectives change battlefield decisions because they give the player a reason to care about time, space, and risk all at once.
What happens without mission objectives
Without clear mission objectives, a battle can collapse into simple exchange logic. The player trades units until one side runs out of strength.
What happens when mission profiles matter
Once the scenario adds timing, objectives, crossings, holds, or other specific tasks, every deployment and reserve choice becomes sharper. The player is no longer just asking “can I win this fight?” The player is asking “can I win this fight in the way this mission requires?”
That is why Four Star General talks so directly about mission profiles and timed objectives. Those are not side details. They are the structure that makes battlefield decisions matter.
