How to Organize NPCs, Factions, and Locations Clearly

Evergreen guide for Sixsmith Games products and the people who use them.

Sixsmith Games·April 18, 2026

NPCs, factions, and locations only stay useful when they are connected to each other. A list of names is not enough.

    What to capture

When you organize project canon, capture:

  • Who the character is
  • Which faction they belong to
  • Which locations matter to them
  • Which timeline events changed their role
  • What other entries they connect to
  • That relationship layer is what turns notes into usable story infrastructure.

    Why creators struggle with this

Most tools let you store entries, but not all tools are built around relationship-heavy creative work. That is why so many projects end up with folders full of lore that technically exists but is hard to use during writing or prep.

ContentCraft is built to keep those relationships visible inside a shared canon workspace. For product scope and workflow details, see the official ContentCraft help pages.
